Who are we at Wee Hooses?Wee Hooses Compost Toilets is a family-run environmental company, created by the kilt-wearing, vintage tractor-driving Scotsman, Scott Craig. Our compost toilets are handmade in the UK and loved by councils, schools, nurseries, homes, allotments, churches, gardens, campsites, wedding venues, forests, eco homes, boats, campervans, farms, and more! We cater to everyone and anyone who wants to live green and clean. 🌱🚜

Where did the super name of your company come from? We love it.We love it too, thank you. It comes from two Scot's words: wee meaning small, and wee meaning wee, as in urine. Hooses is another Scot's word for houses, and both words are, we think, very cute. It encapsulates nicely what our first product was, a place to go do your business (yer wees and poos), and freshen up, without making it anyone else's business, literally.

Where did you get your ideas for these great products?Necessity is the mother of invention! We wanted something healthier and more self-sustaining than our old flush loo, which polluted waterways and destroyed ecosystems. We needed a water-saving toilet that was clean, functional, eco-friendly, easy to use, and low-cost. Conventional toilets waste billions of gallons of water daily and rely on chemicals, pipes, and infrastructure. We wanted to be self-sufficient and green, so we researched and created our solution. Water is precious, and we should take care of it. Every year, the average person flushes up to 50,000 liters of clean drinking water down the toilet while others suffer from waterborne diseases. Sheer madness!

Are compost toilets yucky?Traditionally, they were! Many had a hole in the ground where everything dropped, causing terrible smells and attracting flies. To fix this, we separate the contents and keep them covered to prevent disease and pollution. Our design, inspired by nature, uses a simple under-the-seat separator. No fuss, no smell, just plain and simple success! 😍

What's your favourite product?Without a doubt, it's our very own Wee Hoose! It saves so much water and gives back to the planet. The compost from the loo grows our food, starting the cycle all over again. It's a thing of beauty, handcrafted by me. Each one makes the world a better place, one movement at a time. Chortle. 😄
