Beautiful compost toilets for every budget.

Compost Toilets

Imagine a world where everyone composted with their toilet instead of polluting the water supply.

In a world where tackling pollution is at the forefront of everything we do, Wee Hoose's have the solution. This isn't a grand claim, it could not be more true.

All Wee Hoose products are simple, effective, and pro-earth; positive products which work with nature instead of against it. We invite you to change the planet from the bottom up!

The Wee Hoose compost loo is a not just a toilet, it is a positive symbol of hope and change.

How do our compost toilets work?

Unlike old compost drop loos, like the one Shrek uses,

or a smelly single bucket set-up, we use a simple separation system.

Our separator compost loos are super hygienic and odour-free compared with other systems; saving up to 80% container volume, and sawdust, which means better value, less emptying, and more time for fun stuff instead.

The separation system is simple!

Our plumb-free water-free hygienic separation system diverts the No.2 to the back and the wee (No.1) to the front:1's and 2's go in to separate containers. No handles, no vents, no electrics, no gizmos.

Simplicity under the loo seat.

A dry No.2 is a good No.2

To keep things dry and delay the composting process, each user must sprinkle a handful of lovely virgin sawdust (or even potting compost, coco coir, or hemp animal bedding, shredded paper) over their No.2s.

Using virgin sawdust will not only keep things dry it will also make your loo smell really nice.

"Mmm...pine freshness"

Once full, the containers can then be emptied: the wee can go directly on to the soil, or diluted with water for brilliant plant fertiliser, and the sawdust mix can be put directly in to a compost bin or heap with your other composting materials for great compost. It's when your loo material is put on the compost bin/area that it will start to break down with the moisture and heat level increasing and microbial life breaking it all down in to plant food.

How long will the containers last until they need emptying, and are they huge?

The compost toilet containers are wee and handy; No huge heavy wheelie bin containers with us, nor huge steps to go up to the loo. Our No.2 container is 20 litres and will last around 30 uses and the wee container is 10 litres will last for around 30 as well, but, you can also opt to have the wee go direct to a soak-away under the loo. When you use a soak-away you needn't worry about dealing with the wee again. The loo comes with extra pipe if you choose to use a soak-away. Just give the pipe and bowl a rinse/spritz now and again to freshen it up.

What is a soak-away?

A soak-away for your loo is a hole in the ground approximately 2ft deep and 1 foot wide filled with gravel. The pipe for the wee will go from your loo separator through the pre-drilled hole in the bottom of the loo and in to the soak-away. If you have a sink in your loo then you should make the soak-away at least two foot wide and the pipe for this goes over the surface; Nature does the rest.

Where do I empty my compost toilet containers?

Once full the containers can then be emptied: The wee can go directly on to the soil for your plants and the compost material can be put directly in to a compost bin, or covered compost heap with your other composting materials. Compost heaps and wooden bins, we find, work best; aka hot-composting. No turning and no fuss.

Our waste - waste-not - compost is nitrogen and multi-mineral -rich, like our animal fertilizers, and gives back to the soil as nature was intended. Humanure in the garden is both efficient and positive. 24 months of waiting gets you black gold for your patience!
